Your job is to make sure that we matter in the market by generating useful, timely and engaging content across Do816’s channels. Whether that’s by adding events to the website, sending daily emails, or engaging with users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, your goal is to make Do816 the best possible resource for answering the question: “What am I going to do tonight?”.
We’re looking for a hyper-organized, detail-oriented all-star who is completely immersed in Kansas City’s cultural landscape. You’ll become the primary voice of an established brand with 100K email subscribers, 13K social followers and 25K monthly visitors -- and you will continually increase engagement across all channels through your effectiveness and wit.
You’ll be able to work from home during COVID-19, and you’ll also be welcome to work from Do816’s office when it reopens. You’ll be supported by DoStuff’s team in Austin, as well as the other brilliant minds at DoStuff cities around the country. This is a full-time, salaried position.
Your core duties are:
Writing/sending Do816’s daily emails (example)
Maximizing engagement
Enforcing the brand
Making them as useful as possible to the widest possible audience
Masterfully delivering all sold components
Overseeing Do816.com
Adding events (digital and IRL during the pandemic)
Proofreading queues of incoming events
Curating daily listings
Helping users add events
Scouring the internet for events to add
Generating editorial content
Writing long-form editorial pieces such as guides to the Best New Restaurants & New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Curating lists of events such as the Top Livestreams
Managing the local content calendar: you have a big say in what Do816 covers
Delivering on all national content directives
Managing Do816’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter communities.
Posting compelling, meaningful, timely content
Positioning Do816 as a vital and relevant part of the local community
Growing follower counts and page engagements
Executing all promised deliverables
Staying informed and on the cutting edge of all social media advancements
Running Facebook & Instagram Ad campaigns
Most frequently optimized for Landing Page Views, Impressions, Video Views
Testing and optimizing to maximize performance
Managing discretionary social budget to amplify our reach

Increasing engagement on our website, daily emails and social media
Partnering with local artists, venues, restaurants, and hotels to build partnership promotions
Executing partnership programs like ticket pre-sales and festival flyaways
Reporting and analyzing Do816’s audience growth

Reporting & Analysis
Regularly reporting on all content initiatives: successes, failures, learnings
Communicating top-performing pages and other notable trends to the rest of the team
Proposing and executing content-related A|B tests
Using data to surface opportunities to improve the business
Oversee delivery of National Programs
You see every new program as an opportunity to do something great, and strive to figure out the best way to leverage partners to deliver results
You work with your account manager & content team to understand National Program initiatives, and translate into locally engaging programs that will make an impact, while growing your brand along the way
You are:
A Kansas City resident with a strong knowledge of local culture (concerts, happy hours, restaurants, etc).
A strong short-form writer with a defined voice.
Aware of more local, regional and national bands, artists and comedians than you can possibly name.
Detail-oriented. You can spot a typo before all of your friends.
Following the BEST people, bands and brands on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Funny.
Going out regularly (during non-pandemic times) -- to concerts, comedy, events, restaurants, happy hours and more.
