Do816 • Content Manager

Your job is to generate useful, timely and engaging content across do816’s channels and assist in developing partnerships and strategies to ensure the widest reach possible. Whether that’s through adding events to the site, sending email blasts, or engaging with users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, your goal is to make do816 the best possible resource for answering the question: “what am I going to do tonight?”.

We’re looking for a hyper-organized, detail-oriented all-star who is completely immersed in Kansas City’s cultural landscape. You’ll become the primary voice of an established KC brand with 150k email subscribers, 10K+ social followers and 50k+ monthly visitors -- and you will continually increase engagement across all channels through your effectiveness and wit. You will help our sales team sell big and deliver successfully so we can grow fast; you are equal parts content manager and project manager.

You’ll be working out of do816’s office in Kansas City and supported by DoStuff’s team in Austin, as well as the other brilliant minds at DoStuff cities around the country.

Your core duties include:

  • Adding events to do816

    • Creating calendar scrapers

    • Managing queues of incoming events

    • Helping users add events

    • Scouring the internet for events to add

  • Curating collections of events

    • Evergreen lists like Top Picks, Free, On Sales

    • Useful categories like Happy Hours and Comedy

    • Seasonal lists like St. Patrick’s Day, 4th of July and New Year’s Eve

  • Putting content and events in front of people (lots of people)

    • Via Social Media:

      • Instagram

      • Facebook

      • Twitter

    • Via Email Blasts

      • Daily and dedicated emails

    • Via Partnerships

      • Artists, venues, media properties and more

  • Growing do816’s audience

    • Generating brilliant short-form editorial content

    • Creating innovative social media content

    • Executing partnership programs like ticket pre-sales and festival flyaways

    • Reporting and analyzing do816’s audience growth

    • Thinking of things that we haven’t thought of

  • Setting your local sales team up for success

    • Flawlessly managing and delivering all promised content/ad campaigns

    • Maintaining an updated content calendar

    • Discovering opportunities to go the extra mile for our clients

You are:

  • A Kansas City resident with a strong knowledge of local culture (concerts, happy hours, restaurants, etc)

  • A strong short-form writer with a defined voice

  • Aware of more local, regional and national bands, artists, comedians and restaurant/bars than you can possibly name

  • Detail oriented. You can spot a typo before of all your friends

  • Following the BEST people, bands and brands on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

  • Funny and innovative

  • Going out regularly -- to concerts, comedy, events, restaurants, happy hours and more.

  • In love with Kansas City

  • In the flow of Kansas City news and culture

  • Intrinsically motivated. You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to be productive and efficient

  • Maintaining social media accounts that would blow us away

  • Punctual

  • Really good with email

  • Regularly reading music and culture websites like BrooklynVegan, Noisey, Pitchfork, The Fader, plus locally based sites

Bonus points if you:

  • Already use do816

  • Have a proven track record of increasing digital audience

  • Know your way around Google Analytics and Email Service Providers

  • Maintain badass social media accounts that we can check out

  • Use Asana, Slack and Facebook Ads Manager

This is a full-time position with an entry/junior-level salary.
