DoLA • Content Manager

Your job is to generate useful, timely and engaging content across DoLA’s channels. Whether that’s through adding events to the site, sending email blasts, or engaging with users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, your goal is to make DoLA the best possible resource for answering the question: “what am I going to do tonight?”.

We’re looking for a hyper-organized, detail-oriented all-star who is completely immersed in Los Angeles’s cultural landscape. You’ll become the primary voice of an established brand with 214K email subscribers, 109K social followers and 250K monthly visitors -- and you will continually increase engagement across all channels through your effectiveness and wit.

You’ll be working out of DoLA’s office in Downtown LA and supported by DoStuff’s team in Austin, as well as the other brilliant minds at DoStuff cities around the country. This is a full-time, salaried position.

Your core duties are fourfold:

  • Adding events to DoLA

    • Managing queues of incoming events

    • Helping users add events

    • Scouring the internet for events to add

  • Curating collections of events

    • Evergreen lists like Top Picks, Free, On Sales

    • Useful categories like Happy Hours and Comedy

    • Seasonal lists like Halloween and New Year’s Eve

  • Putting these events in front of people (lots of people)

    • Via Social Media:

      • Instagram

      • Facebook

      • Twitter

    • Via Email Blasts

      • Daily and dedicated emails

  • Growing DoLA’s audience

    • Running giveaway and RSVP promotions.

    • Generating brilliant short-form editorial content.

    • Creating innovative social media content.

    • Executing partnership programs like ticket pre-sales and festival flyaways.

    • Reporting and analyzing DoLA’s audience growth.

    • Thinking of things that we haven’t thought of.

You are:

  • A Los Angeles resident with a strong knowledge of local culture (concerts, happy hours, restaurants, etc).

  • A strong short-form writer with a defined voice.

  • Aware of more local, regional and national bands, artists and comedians than you can possibly name.

  • Detail oriented. You can spot a typo before all of your friends.

  • Following the BEST people, bands and brands on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  • Funny.

  • Going out regularly -- to concerts, comedy, events, restaurants, happy hours and more.

  • In love with LA.

  • In the flow of local news and culture.

  • Innovative.

  • Intrinsically motivated. You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to be productive and efficient.

  • Maintaining social media accounts that would blow us away.

  • Punctual.

  • Really good with email.

  • Regularly reading music and culture websites like Pitchfork, KEXP, Eater and BrooklynVegan.

Bonus points if you:

  • Already use DoLA.

  • Have a proven track record of increasing digital audience.

  • Know your way around Google Analytics.

  • Maintain badass social media accounts that we can check out.

  • Use Asana, MailChimp and Facebook Ads Manager.
