DoLA • Social Media & Community Manager

Your job is to utilize DoLA’s social media channels to provide value to the cultural community of Los Angeles. Whether that’s by leveraging Instagram to increase local awareness of awesome happenings, contributing meaningful insights to a conversation on Twitter, or engaging users in our Facebook Group, your goal is to help people in and around Los Angeles spend their free time doing the best stuff possible.

We’re looking for a hyper-organized, detail-oriented all-star who is completely immersed in LA’s cultural landscape. You’ll become the primary voice of an established brand with 92K social media followers -- and you will continually increase engagement across all channels through your effectiveness and wit.

You’ll be working out of DoLA’s office in DTLA and supported by DoStuff’s team in Austin, as well as the other brilliant minds at DoStuff cities around the country.

Your core duties are to:

  • Manage DoLA’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter communities.

    • Post compelling, meaningful, timely content.

    • Position DoLA as a vital and relevant part of the Los Angeles discussion.

    • Grow follower counts and page engagements.

    • Execute all promised deliverables.

    • Stay informed and on the cutting edge of all social media advancements.

    • Work with Brand Manager to ensure that content and voice align with mission.

  • Run Facebook & Instagram Ad campaigns.

    • Most frequently optimized for Landing Page Views, Impressions, Video Views.

    • Test and optimize to maximize performance.

    • Manage discretionary social budget to amplify our reach.

  • Search for new events and places to add to DoLA.

    • Monitor top sources (web and social) for by-minute updates.

    • Work with Content Manager to ensure discoveries are added to DoLA promptly.

  • Manage Net Promoter Score Surveys

    • Distribute and respond to surveys

    • Organize findings and present to team.

    • Turn individual detractors into promoters, then work with the DoLA team to apply those changes at scale.

    • Invite promoters to Facebook community.

  • Manage Facebook Community

    • Engage with users inside private Facebook Group.

    • Promote members’ only incentives (eg - free tickets, free lunch).

  • Coordinate social coverage at festivals and events

    • Work with team to make sure we have social coverage set up for clients / events where these services were promised.

  • Help as needed with physical events

    • It’s all hands on deck whenever we throw a party.

  • Assist with Social Media for our San Diego property, DoSD

    • Manage Facebook, Instagram and Twitter communities (~2 hours/week)

You are:

  • A Los Angeles resident with a strong knowledge of local culture (concerts, happy hours, restaurants, etc).

  • Experienced with managing Social Media for a brand, company or organization.

  • Following the BEST people, bands and brands on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  • A WIZ at Facebook Business Manager; you can get a lower CPLV than any of your friends.

  • Aware of more local, regional and national bands, artists and comedians than you can possibly name.

  • A strong short-form writer with a defined voice.

  • Detail oriented. You can spot a typo before all of your friends.

  • Funny.

  • Going out regularly -- to concerts, comedy, events, restaurants, happy hours and more.

  • In love with Los Angeles.

  • In possession of a car and/or another way to get around consistently.

  • In the flow of Los Angeles news and culture.

  • Innovative.

  • Intrinsically motivated. You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to be productive and efficient.

  • Maintaining social media accounts that would blow us away.

  • Punctual.

  • Really good with email.

  • Regularly reading music and culture websites like BrooklynVegan, Noisey, Pitchfork and The Fader.

Bonus points if you:

  • Already use DoLA

  • Can shoot / edit video

  • Are amazing at Photoshop

  • Have your own social media following that you can utilize

  • Have your own DSLR camera / video camera

  • Use Slack, Asana, Hubspot, Tweetdeck, Sprout Social, or any other pertinent programs or software.

  • Have a proven track record of increasing digital audience.

  • Know your way around Google Analytics.
