doNYC • Content Manager

Your job is to generate useful, timely and engaging content across doNYC’s channels and assist in developing partnerships and strategies to ensure the widest reach possible. Whether that’s through adding events to the site, sending email blasts, or engaging with users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, your goal is to make doNYC the best possible resource for answering the question: “what am I going to do tonight?”.

We’re looking for a hyper-organized, detail-oriented all-star who is completely immersed in New York City’s cultural landscape. You’ll become the primary voice of an established NYC brand with 145K email subscribers, 95K+ social followers and 200K+ monthly visitors -- and you will continually increase engagement across all channels through your effectiveness and wit. You will help our sales team sell big and deliver successfully so we can grow fast; you are equal parts content manager and project manager.

You’ll be working out of doNYC’s office in Manhattan and supported by DoStuff’s team in Austin, as well as the other brilliant minds at DoStuff cities around the country.

Your core duties include:

  • Adding events to doNYC

    • Creating calendar scrapers

    • Managing queues of incoming events

    • Helping users add events

    • Scouring the internet for events to add

  • Curating collections of events

    • Evergreen lists like Top Picks, Free, On Sales

    • Useful categories like Happy Hours and Comedy

    • Seasonal lists like St. Patrick’s Day, 4th of July and New Year’s Eve

  • Putting content and events in front of people (lots of people) via

    • Social Media: Instagram | Facebook | Twitter

    • Email Blasts: Daily and dedicated emails

    • Partnerships: Artists, venues, media properties and more

  • Growing doNYC’s audience

    • Generating brilliant short-form editorial content

    • Creating innovative social media content

    • Executing partnership programs like ticket pre-sales and festival flyaways

    • Reporting and analyzing doNYC’s audience growth

    • Thinking of things that we haven’t thought of

  • Setting your local sales team up for success

    • Flawlessly managing and delivering all promised content/ad campaigns

    • Maintaining an updated content calendar

    • Discovering opportunities to go the extra mile for our clients

You are:

  • A New York City resident with a strong knowledge of local culture (concerts, happy hours, restaurants, etc)

  • A strong short-form writer with a defined voice

  • Aware of more local, regional and national bands, artists, comedians and restaurant/bars than you can possibly name

  • Detail oriented. You can spot a typo before of all your friends

  • Following the BEST people, bands and brands on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

  • Funny and innovative

  • Going out regularly -- to concerts, comedy, events, restaurants, happy hours and more.

  • In love with New York

  • In the flow of New York City news and culture

  • Intrinsically motivated. You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to be productive and efficient

  • Maintaining social media accounts that would blow us away

  • Punctual

  • Really good with email

  • Regularly reading music and culture websites like BrooklynVegan, Noisey, Pitchfork, TimeOut, Gothamist and The Fader

Bonus points if you:

  • Already use doNYC

  • Have a proven track record of increasing digital audience

  • Know your way around Google Analytics and Email Service Providers

  • Maintain badass social media accounts that we can check out

  • Use Asana, Slack and Facebook Ads Manager
